사람들은 집에서 살아간다. 하지만 별장에서는 조금 다르게 살아간다. 시간이 느려지고, 대화가 길어지고, 풍경을 바라보는 일이 하루의 중요한 일정이 된다. 설해별담은 그런 시간을 위한 집이다.

설해원의 새로운 골프코스를 따라 계획된 단독주택 단지로 설해원이 오랫동안 만들어온 공간의 철학을 주거의 스케일로 이어가는 프로젝트다. 우리가 가장 중요하게 생각한 것은 자연과 프라이버시의 균형이었다. 풍경은 충분히 열려 있어야 하고 휴식은 충분히 보호받아야 한다. 두 가지가 함께 이루어질 때 비로소 좋은 별장이 된다고 믿었다.

1층은 사람을 맞이하는 공간이다. 풀장을 중심으로 거실과 다이닝이 이어지고, 가족과 친구들이 함께 머무는 하루가 자연스럽게 펼쳐진다. 풍경은 실내 깊숙이 들어오고 실내는 다시 정원으로 이어진다. 2층은 조금 더 조용한 시간의 공간이다. 넓은 테라스를 중심으로 객실과 다실, 다양한 용도의 공간을 배치했다. 책을 읽고, 차를 마시고, 아무것도 하지 않는 시간이 자연스럽게 흐르도록 했다.

건축은 화려한 형태보다 머무는 감각을 중요하게 생각했다. 재료는 절제했고 조명은 부드럽게 계획했으며 가구는 공간보다 앞서지 않도록 선택했다. 모든 요소는 자연을 바라보는 시간을 조금 더 편안하게 만들기 위한 장치들이다. 설해별담은 별장을 설계한 프로젝트이기도 하지만 또 하나의 삶을 설계한 프로젝트이기도 하다. 도시에서 잠시 벗어나 자연의 속도로 하루를 살아보는 것. 그것이 우리가 생각한 가장 좋은 별장의 모습이었다.

People live in their homes. They live differently in a second home. Time slows down. Conversations become longer. Looking at the landscape becomes part of the day. Seolhaebyeoldam was designed for that way of living.

Located alongside Seolhaewon's new golf course, the project extends the architectural language and spatial philosophy developed throughout the resort into a collection of private residences. The central idea was to balance openness with privacy. The landscape should remain generous. Rest should remain protected. Only when both exist together can a true retreat be created.

The first floor welcomes family and guests. Living spaces, dining areas, and the pool are organized as one continuous environment where people naturally gather and spend time together. The landscape flows into the house, and the house opens quietly toward the garden. The second floor offers a different rhythm. Guest rooms, a tea room, and flexible living spaces are arranged around a generous terrace. Reading, conversation, or simply doing nothing all become part of the experience.

The architecture avoids unnecessary gestures. Materials remain restrained. Lighting is calm and carefully balanced. Furniture supports the space rather than competing with it. Every element was chosen to make time spent with nature feel more comfortable. Seolhaebyeoldam is more than a collection of vacation homes. It is an exploration of another way of living. A place where, even for a short time, life can follow the quieter rhythm of nature.
