오랜 시간 청담동에서 준오헤어의 역사와 함께해 온 에비뉴준오가 새로운 모습으로 문을 열었다. 준오헤어의 본점이라는 상징성을 지닌 이곳의 리뉴얼은 오랜 시간 축적된 브랜드의 미적 감각과 품격을 다시 살펴보는 일에서 시작되었다. 세월과 함께 성장해 온 브랜드의 깊이를 오늘의 건축으로 어떻게 표현할 것인가. 이번 프로젝트를 관통하는 질문이었다.

청담동은 새로운 취향과 유행이 끊임없이 등장하고 사라지는 곳이다. 그 변화의 중심에서 오랫동안 자리를 지켜온 브랜드에는 그만의 시간과 기억이 쌓인다. 우리는 에비뉴준오가 지닌 이러한 시간의 무게에 주목했다. 화려한 장식이나 강한 조형적 표현을 앞세우기보다, 비례와 재료, 빛의 관계를 세심하게 다듬어 오래 머물러도 편안하고 시간이 흐를수록 깊이가 느껴지는 공간을 만들고자 했다.

재료의 종류는 의도적으로 제한했다. 유리와 정제된 금속, 따뜻하면서도 차분한 색조의 마감재를 중심으로 공간의 질서를 세웠다. 유리의 투명함과 금속의 섬세한 반사, 부드러운 표면의 질감이 서로 다른 표정을 만들어내도록 했다. 재료가 만나는 경계와 마감의 작은 차이까지 조율한 이유는 절제된 공간일수록 비례와 디테일이 더욱 분명하게 드러나기 때문이다.

가구는 이러한 공간에 무게와 깊이를 더하는 중요한 요소였다. 투명하고 가벼운 재료로 구성된 실내에 물성이 풍부하고 존재감이 있는 가구를 배치했다. 비워진 여백과 묵직한 가구가 서로의 성격을 더욱 선명하게 드러내며 공간 전체에 안정된 균형을 형성한다. 가벼움과 무거움, 투명함과 불투명함이 공존하는 가운데 에비뉴준오 특유의 차분한 긴장감과 우아함이 만들어진다.

일부 가구와 조명은 이 공간의 비례와 분위기에 맞추어 별도로 디자인하고 제작했다. 가구의 크기와 형태, 재료의 촉감, 빛이 떨어지는 위치와 각도를 세심하게 검토했다. 조명은 표면의 질감을 드러내고 공간의 깊이를 조절하며, 고객이 마주하는 거울과 얼굴에도 자연스럽게 작용한다. 작은 차이들이 쌓여 전체의 인상을 결정한다는 생각으로 각각의 요소를 다듬었다.

헤어살롱은 사람과 사람이 가까운 거리에서 오랜 시간을 함께 보내는 장소다. 고객은 이곳에서 자신의 모습을 바라보고, 디자이너와 대화를 나누며, 때로는 익숙했던 자신에게 작은 변화를 시도한다. 이러한 시간에는 적절한 거리와 편안함, 그리고 자신에게 집중할 수 있는 분위기가 필요하다. 청담동의 분주한 거리에서 실내로 들어서면 시선과 움직임이 차분해지고, 공간은 고객과 디자이너가 만들어가는 시간의 배경이 된다.

에비뉴준오의 리뉴얼을 통해 우리가 표현하고자 했던 것은 오랜 시간 사람을 중심에 두고 성장해 온 준오헤어의 철학이었다. 브랜드의 역사는 간판이나 장식보다 그곳을 찾는 사람들이 경험하는 분위기와 태도 속에 더 깊이 남는다. 정제된 재료와 가구, 절제된 빛이 만들어내는 공간의 품격 역시 그 연장선에 있다.

유행이 빠르게 변하는 청담동에서 에비뉴준오는 시간의 흐름을 조금 다르게 받아들이는 장소가 되었으면 한다. 새로움이 익숙함으로 바뀐 뒤에도 비례와 재료의 아름다움이 남고, 그 안에서 보낸 시간이 좋은 기억으로 쌓이는 공간. 오랜 역사를 지닌 준오헤어의 본점에 어울리는 품격은 그러한 시간 속에서 완성된다고 생각한다.

Avenue JUNO, the longstanding flagship of JUNO HAIR in Cheongdam-dong, has reopened following an extensive renovation. The project began with a reflection on the aesthetic sensibility and refinement that the brand has cultivated over time. How might the depth of a brand, shaped by years of experience and growth, find expression in contemporary architecture? This question guided our approach.

Cheongdam-dong is a district where new tastes and fashions constantly emerge and fade. A brand that has maintained its presence here over many years carries its own accumulation of time and memory. We wanted Avenue JUNO to reflect that history through the enduring qualities of proportion, material, and light. Every element was considered with the intention of creating an interior that feels composed and comfortable, and whose character continues to reveal itself over time.

The material palette was deliberately limited. Glass, refined metal, and warm, subdued finishes establish a clear architectural order. The transparency of glass, the subtle reflections of metal, and the tactile quality of the surrounding surfaces create a measured dialogue between materials. Particular attention was paid to their junctions, proportions, and finishing details, where even the smallest differences become significant within a restrained interior.

Furniture plays an essential role in giving the space weight and depth. Pieces with a substantial material presence were introduced into the light, transparent interior, establishing a sense of balance and composure. The contrast between open space and solid furniture, between transparency and opacity, gives Avenue JUNO its quiet tension and distinctive elegance.

Selected furniture and lighting fixtures were specially designed and fabricated to suit the proportions and atmosphere of the interior. Their dimensions, forms, textures, and placement were carefully studied, along with the direction and intensity of light. Lighting reveals the character of each surface, defines the depth of the space, and shapes the way clients encounter their reflections in the mirrors. The overall atmosphere emerges from the accumulation of these carefully considered details.

A hair salon is a place where people spend time in close proximity, sharing conversations and moments of personal change. Clients observe themselves, engage with their stylists, and occasionally discover a new expression of who they are. Such moments call for comfort, an appropriate sense of distance, and an atmosphere that allows personal attention. Upon entering from the busy streets of Cheongdam-dong, the pace of the city gradually gives way to a quieter environment, where the architecture provides a composed setting for the time shared between client and stylist.

Through the renewal of Avenue JUNO, we sought to express JUNO HAIR's longstanding philosophy of placing people at the center of its work. The history of a brand is carried in the atmosphere it creates and in the way people are welcomed and cared for. The refinement of materials, furniture, and light gives architectural expression to these values.

In a district defined by constant change, we hope Avenue JUNO will offer a different relationship with time. As the novelty of a renewed interior gradually becomes familiar, the beauty of its proportions and materials should remain, while the moments spent within it become lasting memories. For a flagship with such a long history, we believe true refinement is revealed through the passage of time.
