JUNO HAIR Dunchon Olympic Park

JUNO HAIR represents one of Y GROUP's longest and most extensive brand collaborations. Over the years, the partnership has included headquarters, educational facilities, flagship salons, and numerous retail locations. Rather than designing individual interiors, each project explored how the identity of the brand could be translated into spatial experience.

A hair salon is more than a place for styling. It is a place where people spend time, meet others, and experience the atmosphere of the brand. Whether a visit lasts one hour or several, the quality of that experience is shaped as much by the space as by the service itself. For this reason, every project began not with finishes or furniture, but with a simple question: How do people stay?

JUNO HAIR Dunchon Olympic Park best illustrates this design philosophy. Instead of dividing the salon into separate waiting, consultation, and styling zones, the project was conceived as a continuous sequence of spaces that naturally flow into one another.

The design began with a single architectural gesture—the curve. Arches and gently curved surfaces were introduced not simply as formal expressions, but as spatial devices that guide movement and soften transitions. From the entrance to the styling area, these flowing geometries create openness within a relatively deep floor plan, allowing visitors to experience the salon as one coherent environment rather than a series of separate rooms.

Operational efficiency was equally important. Staff circulation and customer movement were carefully choreographed to overlap naturally without interference. The spacing of styling stations, the placement of mirrors, and the calibration of lighting were all meticulously refined to improve both comfort and the quality of the salon experience.

Materials and color were intentionally restrained. Light-toned finishes serve as a quiet backdrop, allowing the sculptural quality of the architecture and the changing effects of light to become more apparent. Integrated indirect lighting softens the edges of the space, while natural daylight continually transforms the atmosphere throughout the day. The JUNO HAIR projects were never simply about designing salons. They were about translating the brand's philosophy into spatial experience. People rarely remember only the haircut—they remember how the space made them feel. Designing that lasting impression became the true objective of the architecture.

Growing a Brand Through Space

Our collaboration with JUNO HAIR began in 2006. At the time, JUNO HAIR had not yet become the global brand it is today. What stood out was not its scale, but the philosophy of its founder, who believed that people always come before business. We believed architecture could help express that philosophy.

A hair salon is more than a place for cutting hair. It is where people pause, meet, regain confidence, and spend a meaningful part of their day. The atmosphere of a salon is shaped not only by design, but by the relationships that unfold within it. Rather than relying on expressive forms, we focused on the qualities that people quietly experience. The movement of light, the rhythm of circulation, the texture of materials, and the balance between openness and privacy were carefully composed to create spaces that feel calm, natural, and welcoming.

Over nearly two decades, JUNO HAIR has grown from a leading Korean salon into an internationally recognized brand. Along that journey, Y GROUP continued to work alongside the company through projects including the renewal of the Migeum flagship salon and new locations in Bonifacio Global City, Manila, and Orchard Road, Singapore.

Each project responded to a different city and a different context, yet they all began with the same belief: Architecture should not simply express a brand. It should embody the way the brand thinks and serves people.

For us, the JUNO HAIR projects are not merely a series of salon designs. They represent the story of a brand that has grown over time, with architecture accompanying that journey.

That question continues to guide every project we undertake: What kind of memory will people take away from this place?
